Mark Hansen - Who and Why!

Who: This part is easy, I am a 41 year old web-addict from Charlotte NC. I could sit here and tell you all that I am just a web-Guru, who can do all this stuff with my hands tied. Truth be known, alot of the domain names we sit on are from “Get Rich” type ideas I have had over the years! The one we are presenting this on - The Kids College Fund, was a brainstorm domain I registered a few years ago when the Million Dollar Homepage craze hit! I figured I could toss up a million pixel site, throw it to the wolves and sha-bang - we would be all set! (Dont ask how it worked) I started a website design and search optimization business several years ago. Once I had a few anchor accounts I found it was just not as satisfying as driving sales, so I kept my few monthly accounts and moved onto different areas - specifically - driving an ecommerce website!

I have every intent in following this website monetization plan for 6 months - it is does as expected, we will continue to grow! If not, let me know if you want to buy a domain name!  :-)

Who AM I?

Hmmm - good question. I’ll start with the easy stuff. I’m a 41 year old mom of 4 (7 if you count the step kids). I’ve always had a love of computers way back to my first full time job at Radio Shack Computer Stores. This is when the Tandy 1000 first came out – for those of you who know what that is, you probably feel as old as I do. If not, it was basically a glorified word processor – BUT, it had a screen and it was considered a computer, so I felt special! From there, I went on to varying degrees of computer related jobs from word processor to software specialist. I was a master at getting my managers to buy the “latest and greatest” and drank up all the knowledge I could get my hands on.  I still have my love of computers and suffer from withdrawals if I’m away from one for more than 8 hours!

Why are we doing this? Well, we are always looking for a way to make a buck – but we need to start looking for something more long term. Hence, “THE EXPERIMENT” as we are calling it. We both have good jobs with decent pay that offer the stability and flexibility to do other things – why not try to make some money?! At the same time, we can test our diligence and our “staying” power and see if we can stick this out and make it work.
