Category Structure - Possibly a bit Clearer
October 17, 2007 | Author: Mark | Filed under: Build a Niche Store
Hi everyone -
Just as a followup to the previous posts, I recorded a short flash video for you all to watch.
As you watch the screen - don’t get creeped out by the guy talking, thats just me!
I thought it may help you understand WHY I recommend limiting your choices of categories, and using a hierarchy menu to guide your visitors where they want to be.
I am working on a second installment of this tonight that will show HOW I am creating the category tree within the admin of the store.
The file ended up being 14 megabytes in size, which is smaller than I would have thought. Let me know if you have problems viewing the file.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,
When I clicked to view the video I could hear it but not see anything. I tried a couple of times and each time just got the audio.
Rochelle
Rochelle, I had the same problem. I found out that it was happening because I was viewing it in Firefox, which wasn’t displaying the video. Internet Explorer shows it just fine. ![]()
Mark,
Great video tutorial.
Thank you
Jenny

Sorry for the IE versus FF issue - I did not test it!

Mark, thanks a lot. The video cleared everything on that part up. I look forward to your other one. Your videos especially are making everything clear to me. :o)
I like your tutorial. You explained how to do it and the most imporant thing is, why we do it in that way.
Thanks Mark.
By the way Mark,
Firefox doesn’t display http://www.thenichestorebuilder.com very well. I have to use IE to be able to see the text easier.

Thanks for the heads up - I have been working so much on the content, forgot about cross-browser.
Thanks again,
Mark
Hi Mark,
Great tutorials. I’m a Linux user therefore I use Firefox. So that leaves us Linux users out in the cold.

I am actually working on a way to make smaller. more focused videos, that will work in both browsers.
Testing now…
Thanks again,
