Installing Build a Niche Store

I guess this is one of the days many of you were waiting for! We have discussed the fact that you can make money with Build a Niche Store. We talked briefly about the niche discovery and demand process and we have gotten ourselves a host and the software to drive the store. Now is the day you get to install the software and get started on defining your Niche market!

I am sure that some of you have already gone through the instructions provided with Build a Niche Store, if that is the case… congratulations! For the rest of you…

Lets install Build a Niche Store!

I have created a video that wll help you with this install. If you want to review the video first, it is located here, or by clicking on the image to the right. Even though this video includes several steps, I assure you… ANYONE can install Build a Niche Store in less than 5 minutes, with absolutely no previous experience!

During this installation, you will likely have 2-3 windows open a time. I find it easier to keep the hosting CPanel (hostgator account) open in one window, the BANS install in a second window and eBay in a third.

I am not going to write every step in this post as the video is commented on every frame.

You will be using the hosting panel to setup your database, create a new user to communicate with the database and finally, setting the correct file permissions so the BANS install mechanism can alter the files through the installation process.

After the database is created, you will go back to your new domain name and begin installing the Build a Niche Store, and completing basic configuration for your site.

After the installation is completed, you will learn how to delete the files that are no longer needed, change the permissions back to normal on the cont.php file, and most importantly, protect your directory structure from casual browsing.

Once you have completed the video, you will know how to easily configure the BANS script for your Niche. I plan on writing throughout the weekend on the next segment, Customizing your site to your Niche market! It will be an extensive tutorial that goes fairly indepth to keyphrases, market research and menu creation.

Just out of curiosity, what do your posts of “[…] Installing the Build a Niche Store Script […]” mean? I’ve seen several of them and can’t decipher them.

Hi Rochelle -

They are trackback links from within the blog.

Essentially, WP automatically scans/finds places on the web that link to your post and lists the trackback url.
