OK - I removed the nofollow tag from Posts

August 15, 2007 | Author: Mark | Filed under: Everything Else

As everyone who follows the world of blogging knows - the nofollow tag is automatically applied to the link a user submits for all comments that are posted back to a site.

This morning - I found a small plugin that changes this and removes the nofollow tag by default. (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/nofollow-case-by-case/) All is not lost though… I still review all posts before allowing them to be displayed. If I find a semi-spammy comment, I can just as easily add a /nofollow tag to the link as I am reviewing the post!

So how does this help you, the readers? Now when you reply or post, you can use the anchor text of your own choice, code it with your url and you will actually get a little SEO plug out of it! Heck, if you are taking the time to read this stuff… and you find it useful… Its just a small token of my own appreciation!

Thank you, Mark. It’s very kind of you.
Let me see if I get it correctly - If I post html here, it will be considered as good link:
Visit my website http://www.transportcompanies.com to read about <a href=”http://www.transportcompanies.com”>transport companies</a> near you.
Or NOT?

Hi Jenny -

html is ok, but less than desirable in the actual comments area of posts. The more widely popular way I have seen is to just use your target anchor text in the name field of your comment, and drop your actual name somewhere in your comment text.

I have edited your original comment to reflect what I am referring to…
