Build a Niche Store - Another New Tool!
July 28, 2007 | Author: Mark | Filed under: Build a Niche Store, Tools of the Test
Another week goes by on our domain monetization project and we are getting closer to finding most of the tools we will use for a mass deployment of websites! After seeing the results of using AuctionAds for a few weeks - I decided to try and find a cheap and effective tool for deploying auction related sites through our eBay affiliation. The searching actually took a while to do, but I ended up at Build a Niche Store.
The way Build a Niche Store works is fairly simple and straight forward. You buy the script ($97.00 for unlimited domains) load it up onto a server, walk through the 4-step setup process… and you are done! Yes - it really is THAT easy! After a day or two of some testing the script, I was able to upload and build out 5 sites just this morning in less than 1 hour! That being said, all 5 sites are in their most basic form at this point, but the rest of today will see me developing a custom template to use on all the current and future sites we deploy with Build a Niche Store.
The only negative thing I have to say about it is that it wouldnt work on my windows server and I had to go out and purchase a reseller plan from another company ($30/month for up to 10 websites). The server MUST be an Apache server model… believe me, I tried to get it up and running on my windows box to no avail!
The whole premise of Build a Niche Store is that you take advantage of the eBay Affiliate program that is run by Commission Junction. Basically, when someone enters eBay from your lead or website, ANYTHING that person buys on ebay within the next 30 7 days, you are credited as the referrer and receive a portion (50%) of the eBay fees associated with that auction or purchase!
All being said - I dont think the application will be a huge hit running by itself, it will need some personalized attention from each site owner! The good news however, is that there are ways to make it your own by adding custom pages, custom search strings etc. You even have the ability to place your Google Adsense code into each page so site visitors have options beside only eBay auctions.
Requirements for Build a Niche Store
- The Build a Niche Store script (1-time, $97.00 fee, unlimited websites)
- Hosting with an apache server, php and MySQL database (Can be found for $4.00/month or less, per site)
- Commission Junction account (Free)
- eBay affiliate ID (Free, Get that at commission junction after you setup account)
Once you have all of the above in place, you load up the script to your server account and install the application through a 4-step VERY EASY wizard. After the program is running, you choose an ebay category, place the category number into the Build a Niche Store application, and it automatically pulls in ALL the subcategories and associated auctions with your affiliate ID already programmed into the links!
If you know absolutely nothing about website code or programming, you can have this up and running within 30 minutes of clicking one of the Build a Niche Store links I have on this page!!
I put up this Wholesale Closeouts and Merchandise store in less than 5 minutes! I will have the first 10 sites on this script by the end of this afternoon, with the hopes of expanding our server plan and having 100 within the next week or two! Watch The Monetized Domain List for links and references soon!
Feel free to ask for help if you need it!
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark,
Are you sure about the 30 days on ebay? I signed up a month ago and everything said 7 days.

You are 100% correct! From the words of the BANS admin:
Visitor cookies last for 7 days from the day of the click. ALL purchases the visitor makes within the 7 day period are related to your affiliate ID.
The 30 day cookie is for new eBay users. If one of your leads actually signs up for an ebay account within 30 days, you get the credit.
Nice Hubcap store by the way - when are you going to get BANS onto it? Looks like it will fly quickly!!
I put www.carolinacloseout.com up in about 1 hour! Its already generating income!! Great tool!!
Thanks for writing about BANS. I think this is right for me. By CJ ebay Aff ID do you mean the PID ? Also when you say server do you mean you tried the MSN server. My domains are all through yahoo. Is that good ? I really want to do this but I want to make sure I got the info right and everything in place. Once I pay the $97 I don’t want to have any $ surprises.
Thanks again good job
Hi Mark,
Great site and info about BANS. I currently have over 100 domain names on GoDaddy at the present time. I have had some success at selling a few of them, but I make more money from parking them. When BANS came along, I thought, why “give” my money to someone else for parking my domains. Right now, I think I have about a dozen or so BANS sites. I have paid for BANS three times over in the past 4 months!
Anyway, I saw a post in the members forum about integrating BANS into Joomla. Have you had any experience with Joomla? I think BANS is a perfect platform to integrate into Joomla. The main premise for Joomla is that it is entirely a dynamic platform and almost the entire site is integrated into RSS. Nobody has created a MOD or Plug-In for Joomla. Got any ideas?
Thanks!
JB

Honestly, I have never even used Joomla myself. I have always developed content sites (e-commerce and informational) and just recently even started using wordpress.
I agree - for the small cost of BANS and hosting, I have found nothing easier and more cost effective to use for monetization!
