Sold our First Domain!

OK - Arent we just a happy bunch this morning? Our first hand registered domain paid off with a sale within 2 weeks of being active.
Being a NASCAR fan - I was watching a race a few weeks ago and heard a comment during the prerace show in regard to Dale Earnhardt Jr leaving his team for another. Well, he has a fan base of gazillions of people that are wearing his #8 fan gear and Riki Rattman (Rock for Racing) utterred a comment… “Free the Eight” - subsequently, the chanting began in the background as I was already logging into my GoDaddy account to see if the domain existed.
www.Freethe8.com was registered June 17th, 2007 and sold on July 2nd - 2 short weeks - for $1000.00
Try finding that rate of return in the stock market!
So - what made it sell so quickly? We found immediately that the domain was getting quite a bit of type-in traffic, meaning people were typing the domain name name directly into their browser to get to it. That makes it just a bit more powerful and VERY brandable!!
Success #1 in the books…

Stumble it!

Great story.
Same happened to me when I heard the news about 2014 winter olympic games in Sochi - Russia. I bought the domain Olympics2014.com in Russian (олимпиада2014.com - IDN) and it get nice traffic.
Did not sell it yet, but i am hoping one day.
Who did you sell it through?
Did you sell it through a domain auction service? Which? (etc.) ![]()
